A khimar is a cape-like head covering that drapes over the head, shoulders, and upper torso in one piece — not the separate hijab-plus-top-layer combination some buyers assume it is. It's cut long enough to reach around the waist or hip depending on how many tiers it has, and unlike a hijab, you don't wrap or pin it. It's meant to be pulled on as-is, which is a big part of why people search for this garment specifically more than they do for most other modest-wear categories.
We cut khimars in one, two, and three graduated tiers. A single tier reads closer to a long shawl. Three tiers gives you the structured, stacked look that most boutique buyers picture when they think of the category. Satin-back crepe is what we sell most of it in — it holds a clean fold at each tier without needing interfacing, and it picks up a slight sheen at the collar while staying matte through the body.
Khimar sits in a spot a lot of buyers overlook: high search demand, and comparatively little competition among manufacturers actually producing it well. If you're a private label account trying to figure out where your first development budget should go, this is usually where we'd point you.

Khimars FAQs
What's the difference between a khimar and a hijab?+
A hijab is a single length of fabric wrapped and pinned around the head and neck. A khimar is a pre-shaped, cape-style garment that covers the head and shoulders in one piece and is pulled on rather than wrapped — closer in construction to a poncho than a scarf.
How many tiers should I order for a first khimar range?+
Most first orders split evenly between two-tier and three-tier cuts. Two-tier khimars sell better in warmer markets where less layered fabric is preferred; three-tier is the stronger seller in cooler markets and for boutique/occasion positioning.
