What Is Jilbab?

A looser-cut outer garment, often produced as a two-piece top-and-skirt set.

A jilbab is cut looser through the body than an abaya, with more fabric ease, and is frequently produced as a two-piece set — a separate top and full-length skirt — though some markets use the term for any loose outer covering, abaya included. The looser cut, not the piece count, is the defining structural feature. Jilbab carries meaningfully higher search volume than several other modest-wear category terms, making it worth stocking as a distinctly labeled line.
