Manufacturing

What Is OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)?

Production of a garment built to the buyer's own tech pack and specification.

In apparel sourcing, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) production means the manufacturer produces a garment exactly to the buyer's own design, pattern, and tech pack specification — the buyer owns the design; the manufacturer executes it. This differs from private label, where the manufacturer's own base pattern is used with the buyer's branding applied, and from ODM, where the manufacturer contributes design input alongside production.
